Meet jeff

Hello! My name is Jeff, founder and backbone of Tisdall Remodeling Co.

TRC was officially born in late 2020, but my story doesn’t begin there! I’ve always loved working with my hands and transforming spaces— turning rooms and projects from unfunctional and completely jacked up into something fresh and beautiful.

I grew up in the construction world, learning from the best in the business. My dad was a production builder, and so I often spent long hours on construction sites as a kid. I had to find ways to entertain myself, and boys will be boys. I enjoyed jumping off of giant dirt mounds, exploring houses, and looking for left behind things. It wasn’t always pretty, but it taught me some of the basic principals of construction.

By the time I was 18, I was a full-time employee alongside my dad. Back in the early 2000’s, we worked primarily on the east side of Atlanta and Decatur, helping update old houses from the 1920s-1940s. If I could go back in time and save some of the pieces I had to demo back then— neat historical items from sinks to door hardware and old keys and wood– I could fill an antique store!

All of these early years really helped me build experience. I’m well-versed in the old style of framing and construction, so I have a good understanding of how to take apart and restore old things.

One of my favorite jobs was working on a bed and breakfast, circa 1898, in Luverne Alabama. It was a historical landmark, originally called the Douglas House. This was a major job that took us about 3 months non-stop. Sometimes we worked through the night. We really didn’t have running water. No tv. Most of the house’s electricity was turned off. We took one of the cast iron tubs, placed it in the yard, and that’s where we would clean up (as much as you could!). We slept on the floor and cooked steaks on the grill. Looking back, it was actually really fun and a good memory.

To me, being a good contractor is about communication and vision: the ability to listen to what the customer wants, visualize what it looks like, and accomplish the goal is vital for success. It also takes a good understanding of all types of construction and how the pieces go together. Timing and scheduling is very important. Determination and grit will help you get the job done, because it’s not easy work. Everything tries to fight you in construction, and you have to be able to overcome.

And to be completely honest, I like to tell my customers that absolutely anything is possible, if you have the time and the budget. Materials sometimes can be difficult to acquire, especially in the times we are living in, but with patience and a well thought out timeline, we can accomplish goals and create your perfect space.

We have always worked 100% on referrals, and one thing we pride ourselves in is that customers often become friends and sometimes even family. We like to have a working relationship, getting to know our customers as people, not just clients.

I hope this has helped you get to know a little more about me, and where I’ve come from. I look forward to working with you on your next project, and helping you make your dream home a reality.
